Cherokee Tribe To Spend $275m for Harrah’s Valley River Casino Expansion

A $275m expansion project for Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel celebrated its launch with a groundbreaking ceremony. The tribe will revamp its venue, situated in Murphy, North Carolina, with an additional hotel tower, hotel lobby cafe, new restaurant, spa, and indoor pool, as well as extra space for gaming and parking. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.

More than 2,500 construction jobs and over 100 operational positions will be created upon the project opening.

Gaming and bar space will gain a 50% expansion. There will be 12 additional table games, 400 new slot machines, and a 10-table World Series of Poker (WSOP) poker room. The gaming floor will also include a 22-seat casino center bar with 14 tabletop gaming units, 8 beer taps, plus bar top and lounge seating.

In total, the additions planned include 25,000 square feet of gaming floor, a 296-room hotel tower, and a 12,000 square feet rooftop restaurant.

Casino officials and Cherokee Tribe representatives took part in the groundbreaking ceremony. Tommy Lambert, tribal casino gaming enterprise chairman, Richard Sneed, principal chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Lumpy Lambert, general manager of Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel, and Brooks Robinson, regional senior vice president & general manager, were among the participants.

In other news, the iGaming introduction is promising for Indiana.
