AGA Releases Latest Revenue Report, July Is the 3rd Highest Grossing Month

The American Gaming Association has released its latest monthly revenue report. According to it, commercial gambling revenue reached more than $5 billion in July.
Thus, combined revenues for the year to date have already hit $34.27 billion, which is 15.5% higher than last year’s figure for the same period. At the same time, in July, revenue grew by 8% compared to June and by 2.8% year on year. Also, out of the last five months, four, including July, have shown revenue in excess of $5 billion.
Given these figures, there is a real opportunity for 2022 to become a record year for the gambling sector in terms of combined revenues.
The report notes that of the 31 states that ran commercial games this year and last year, 21 reported year-on-year revenue growth. Only four jurisdictions reported a decline in revenue: South Dakota, Mississippi, Kansas, and the District of Columbia.
It is worth noting that land-based table games reached a record monthly revenue of $966.7 million.
At the same time, the revenue of slot machines decreased slightly, amounting to $3.03 billion (down 1.4% year on year). Overall, on an annualized basis, US land-based casino revenue from traditional gambling decreased by 0.9% in July to $4.31 billion, but, taking into account the entire seven-month period, it increased by 9.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
